Free-ships / Scholarships.

Initiated in 2016 this program aims to keep in education children whose parents can no longer afford even the basic fees we charge, and who risk being lost to the education system completely.

Aspire.

We are very pleased to announce that the renowned professional services firm KPMG in India has chosen girl students from our school to benefit from their ‘Aspire’ program. As well as supporting them financially, they will benefit from professional mentoring, confidence building and preparation for success in the outside world.

The School has an official tie-up (MOU) with the registrar of SNDT University and is working with the B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) department to formally work with our students with learning disabilities.
SNDT certified counsellors are also providing aptitude testing, career guidance and psychological counselling for students in the 9th and 10th standards.

Mid-day snack initiative.

After consulting with teachers we have implemented a strategy for providing our secondary and pre-primary students with a mid-day snack. It was our finding that many students were attending school without breakfast for a variety of family reasons, and that subsequently lack of food over a long day was impacting on their concentration and focus.
Thanks to kind support from the Rotary and private donors we are able to provide a healthy snack 2-3 days a week around 10am and the result has been a noticeable increase in attention span. In time we hope to expand this program over the whole week.

Educational Trips and experiences.

In an effort to build experience for our students that prepares them to deal confidently with life, we organise regular trips to help broaden understanding of the world and how it works. These include visits to farms, tree plantations, water harvesting and recycling facilities, the Post Office, Police Station, Shopping Malls, as well as interactive programs with other schools and inter school science and maths fairs.

Sports.

The Taraben Master school is one of the few schools in Mumbai with its own large playground attached. In addition to the usual PE classes, we have organised football, cricket and annual sports day events. Our children regularly take part in DSSO events (District State Sports Organisation), as well as inter and intra school sporting competitions.

Volunteer ‘Get Involved’ Program.

With the generous help of volunteers who are experts their field we have been able to start additional academic tuition, remedial classes, as well a wide range of activities including football, capoeira, yoga, theatre, dance and art, even roller skating. We have embarked on a focused drive to continually improve academic standards. To that end we have taken up the services of 5 more volunteers coaching key subjects as well as formed a Saturday reading group. For those children at secondary level who stay back for remedial classes, Iscon have confirmed they will provide meals, to help maximise concentration, so that no one is left behind.
